This school continues to amaze and inspire us. We've spent many hours in the new computer lab and library. My favorite hangout spot is on the balcony, in the corner to catch the elusive breeze that comes up from the tantalizingly out of reach, but not out of sight, ocean. Summer school is in session which has allowed me to observe and participate in many classrooms and their daily, afternoon professional development. I've spent days exploring Cusinare rods, the updated Investigations curriculum, reflections circles as a way of learning and Maria Montessori's science theories. Outside of Lewis and Clark's theories courses I've never encountered so much dialog about the educational theorists Piaget, Regio Emilio and Paulo Frere.

Or better yet, go to www.youtube.com and search Matenwa for the most encompassing glimpse, with song of this incredible place.
